Eight U.S. states, including Iowa and Kansas, are suing OpenAI, claiming that ChatGPT has encouraged children to harm themselves and others. The lawsuits seek court orders to change how the chatbot operates for minors and to forfeit profits made from young users. Florida's attorney general was the first to file a similar lawsuit in June. OpenAI faces numerous other lawsuits alleging that ChatGPT has contributed to mass shootings and other violent acts.
