The national energy system has been operating without nuclear production since August 13, following the controlled shutdown of Unit 1 and Unit 2 due to severe drought. Energy prices have surged, with the average price in August reaching 793 lei/MWh, significantly higher than previous months. The effects of this situation are felt differently across sectors, starting with energy suppliers and extending to energy-intensive industries and their subcontractors. The upcoming winter may exacerbate these pressures, as energy demand peaks during this season, and the situation will not resolve immediately after the reactors are restarted.
