German researchers have developed a technique using Wi-Fi signals to identify and locate individuals without cameras or personal devices. By analyzing how radio waves reflect off people and objects, the system can recognize individuals based on their appearance and movement. In tests with 197 participants, the identification accuracy reached nearly 100%. This method operates without the need for the observed person to be connected to the Wi-Fi network, raising significant privacy concerns. The researchers warn that widespread Wi-Fi networks could create an invisible surveillance infrastructure, particularly affecting vulnerable groups. They advocate for privacy protections in future Wi-Fi technologies.
