The Ukrainian army has launched a groundbreaking operation named Vivaldi, utilizing combat robots behind Russian lines. This initiative has reportedly led to the recapture of several localities near Liman. Drones were employed to deploy ground robots over 10 kilometers into enemy territory, allowing Ukrainian forces to regain control of 125 square kilometers, including 50 square kilometers from Russian occupation. The operation involved targeting Russian command posts and logistics centers while maintaining air defense to shield the mission. The Third Army Corps claims to be the first globally to implement this robotic deployment method, which has become crucial in their military strategy, completing over 15,700 missions. The operation is ongoing, with further phases anticipated, as indicated by the name Vivaldi, referencing the composer’s famous work, The Four Seasons.
