The operation, named "KillSwitch," involved multiple countries and resulted in the arrest of additional suspects in the UK and Romania. KillSec exploited software vulnerabilities to steal sensitive data and extort organizations for ransom. Authorities conducted searches across several countries, seizing evidence and securing data against unauthorized access. The investigation revealed that the group had been active since 2024, with significant financial gains from their cybercriminal activities.
