The operation was allegedly ordered by Ukrainian state authorities to disrupt gas supplies to Russia. The investigation revealed a detailed plan involving a small team and sophisticated explosives, which were transported covertly. The team, using false identities, executed the sabotage on September 26, 2022, amidst a backdrop of rising tensions due to the Ukraine conflict. The trial for the main suspect, Serhii Kuznietsov, is set to begin in October 2026, while another team member has also been arrested.
