Police and DIICOT prosecutors conducted 60 searches in Neamț, Iași, and Suceava targeting two organized crime groups involved in cigarette smuggling. The groups, consisting of Romanian and Moldovan citizens, allegedly sold contraband cigarettes in Romania, Italy, Germany, and the UK. Investigators claim the groups were closely linked and organized hierarchically, with specific roles assigned to members. Authorities seized significant quantities of cigarettes believed to be distributed by these groups. The suspects will be questioned at the DIICOT office in Neamț, and they are presumed innocent during the legal process.
