The organization, which specializes in demining, finds the U.S. State Department's stipulations prohibitive, particularly those restricting advocacy for abortion, gender equality, and diversity. The U.S. administration under President Trump has rolled back diversity initiatives and recognized only two genders, aligning with conservative social policies. Norsk Folkehjelp's Secretary General, Raymond Johansen, emphasized the importance of equality and diversity as core values. The loss of U.S. funding, which constitutes 40% of their demining budget, could result in a significant annual revenue drop of approximately €37 million and job cuts.
