OMV Petrom and Romgaz have successfully installed the Neptun Alpha platform, marking a significant step in the Neptun Deep project. The project aims to enhance Romania's energy independence by 2027, with the completion of a 160-kilometer underwater pipeline connecting to the national transport system. Six out of ten planned production wells have been drilled, indicating geological stability and readiness for commercial gas extraction. The total investment for this phase reaches 4 billion euros, supported by favorable legislative changes. The project is expected to double Romania's gas extraction capacity, positioning it as a net exporter in the Balkans, while also ensuring military security in the region.
