OMS: Ebola a ucis peste o mie de oameni în RD Congo și Uganda

The latest figures from the World Health Organization indicate that the Ebola outbreak has resulted in 1,001 deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. The DRC has reported 999 deaths and 2,473 confirmed cases since the outbreak began in mid-May. Uganda has maintained two deaths and 20 confirmed cases, but must wait a month without new cases to be declared free of the virus. The outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo virus, has no available vaccine or treatment. A clinical study for two treatments began in early July, and the WHO has authorized emergency use of a diagnostic test. The epicenter of the crisis is in Ituri province, which accounts for the majority of cases and deaths. The situation remains critical, with intense transmission in certain areas.
