Omenirea vorbea 75.000 de limbi până acum o mie de ani. Apoi, acestea au dispărut în masă

A recent study reveals that humanity once spoke between 30,000 and 75,000 languages, a significant decline from the current 7,500. This loss is attributed to the expansion of empires and colonialism, which imposed dominant languages. Researchers used mathematical models and data from various fields to estimate language diversity over the last 12,000 years. Today, about half of the world's languages are at risk of extinction, highlighting the cultural and historical loss associated with each disappearing language.
