Omar Hayssam has been placed in public custody for 30 days following his release from prison, pending his removal from Romania. He is currently under medical care and surveillance. Hayssam, a Syrian national, was released conditionally after serving part of his 24-year sentence for various crimes, including economic offenses and kidnapping journalists. He does not hold Romanian citizenship and lacks legal residency in the country. After his medical treatment, he will be transferred to an immigration center for further procedures regarding his deportation.
