Omar Hayssam, condamnat pentru răpirea celor trei jurnaliști români în Irak, a fost eliberat condiționat
The Ilfov Tribunal has granted conditional release to Omar Hayssam, a former businessman convicted of terrorism and economic crimes, overturning a previous rejection by the Sector 4 Court. Hayssam, who was serving a 24-year sentence, had repeatedly requested early release due to health issues. The Tribunal's decision is final and mandates his immediate release unless he is detained for other reasons. Hayssam is notably known for his involvement in the kidnapping of three Romanian journalists in Iraq in 2005, for which he received a 20-year sentence for terrorism. He had previously fled Romania in 2006 but was returned in 2013 to serve his sentence.
