Omar Hayssam, condamnat la peste 24 ani de închisoare, eliberat condiţionat. Decizia Tribunalului e definitivă • Newsweek România
Omar Hayssam, sentenced to over 24 years in prison for multiple crimes, including the kidnapping of journalists in Iraq, has been conditionally released by the Ilfov Tribunal. The court's decision is final, overturning a previous rejection from the Bucharest Sector 4 Court. Hayssam's release comes after a successful appeal against the earlier ruling. He was initially convicted in 2014 for terrorism, fraud, and other offenses. Hayssam was arrested in 2005 following the kidnapping of three Romanian journalists and later escaped from Romania in 2006, only to be returned in 2013 after seven years. His health issues were cited as a reason for his earlier release from custody.
