The Bankwatch Romania Association, supported by nearly 200 residents, has filed a lawsuit against local authorities in Craiova for failing to address air pollution issues. The case, initiated in Cluj, highlights the lack of an air quality plan and insufficient monitoring stations. Residents report severe pollution from a nearby power plant, affecting their daily lives and children's health. Measurements indicate that PM10 particle pollution exceeded legal limits significantly. Bankwatch demands a new air quality plan for Craiova, while the European Commission has opened infringement proceedings regarding air quality monitoring failures in several Romanian cities, including Craiova.
