Lia Olguța Vasilescu, president of PSD Craiova, stated that property taxation based on market value will not start on January 1, 2027, as rumored. She emphasized that the new government may renegotiate this measure and dismissed claims of a 27-fold increase in property taxes. The transition to market value taxation is part of existing legislation and was previously attempted in 2022 and 2025. Vasilescu provided examples showing that tax increases would not be as drastic as suggested. She also confirmed that local taxes in Craiova will not rise compared to last year, nor will they reflect inflation rates.
