The Dutch central bank has transferred gold reserves worth billions from North America to the UK due to increasing geopolitical tensions. This move is seen as a crisis preparedness measure. Between March and August, approximately 86 metric tons of gold were relocated to London, reducing the shares held in New York and Ottawa. The bank now holds 612.4 metric tons of gold valued at around 83.6 billion dollars. The governor emphasized the importance of liquidity and resilience in crisis situations, noting that gold in London is more accessible for emergencies than in North America.
