Oceanele au înregistrat temperaturi record în august

Recent, ocean surface temperatures reached a record high, while a significant ice loss occurred in Greenland's Petermann glacier. These changes highlight ongoing climate transformations. The average daily temperature of ocean surfaces between 60°S and 60°N hit 21.1°C on August 22, surpassing the previous record. This unusual peak coincides with an El Niño event. Additionally, approximately 76 square kilometers of ice broke off from the Petermann glacier, marking the largest ice loss since 2012. Current climate changes are linked to the stability of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, with rapid warming posing critical risks. Romanian researchers contribute to understanding these mechanisms through studies of stalagmites in the Carpathians, providing insights into past climate evolution.
