Interim Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu revealed she was approached by one of the Tate brothers at a diplomatic reception shortly before their arrest. The meeting occurred in Washington, organized by Paolo Zampolli. Țoiu stated that upon recognizing the Tates, she and other diplomats left the event. She emphasized that there was no private conversation with the Tates and instructed Romanian diplomats to decline any meeting requests. Țoiu clarified that she was unaware of the Tates' attendance and stressed the need for Romania to maintain a clear stance regarding such individuals.
