Oana Țoiu: Granițele Schengen nu se vor închide

The Romanian Foreign Minister, Oana Țoiu, assured that Schengen travel rules will not change due to the migrant crisis in Spain. She announced an extraordinary meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council to discuss securing the EU's external borders. Țoiu emphasized that the Spanish enclave of Ceuta has a different legal regime and does not benefit from free movement. Spain implements double checks to prevent unauthorized crossings. Maintaining open Schengen borders is a strategic priority for Romania, which manages a significant part of the EU's external borders. Measures for border protection will be debated at the upcoming JAI Council meeting.
