Researchers have identified two of the loudest birds in the world, the bare-throated bellbird and the red-legged seriema, both exceeding 120 decibels. The sounds produced by these birds are comparable to a jackhammer. The bare-throated bellbird's call reached 122.4 decibels, while the red-legged seriema's average was nearly 121 decibels. The white bellbird, previously recorded at 125 decibels, still holds the title for the loudest bird song. The study highlights the varying criteria for determining the loudest bird, depending on whether peak or average volumes are considered.
