Oamenii care au îmblânzit Carpații. Cum au fost construite primele cabane și poteci turistice în ținutul sălbatic al României
The article discusses the history of mountain huts and trails in the Carpathians, initiated in the 19th century by early tourism organizations in Romania. The first significant association, SKV, was founded in 1880 in Sibiu, focusing on promoting nature and providing shelter for tourists. It constructed numerous cabins and marked extensive trails, becoming a key player in Romanian hiking. Another important organization, EKE, was established in 1891 in Cluj, emphasizing community building through nature walks. By the early 20th century, other associations emerged, further developing tourism in the region, including the Touring Club of Romania after World War I, which enhanced the comfort and accessibility of mountain shelters.
