A tornado struck the village of Pomas in southern France, injuring at least 41 people and damaging hundreds of homes. The tornado, which occurred during a severe storm warning, reached wind speeds of 117 km/h, causing significant destruction. Emergency teams were deployed to assist the affected residents, with reports of a pregnant woman injured when her house collapsed. The extreme weather has also led to power outages affecting around 2,800 homes across ten villages and disrupted transport routes, including flight delays and cancellations. France experiences several tornadoes annually, but this event follows a summer of unprecedented heatwaves and wildfires in the region.
