However, the World Bank warns that a rapid shift away from the dollar could lead to capital flight and economic instability. The country aims to build trust in the ZiG currency before fully adopting it, as premature dedollarization could undermine economic progress. The World Bank also noted that Zimbabwe could improve access to external loans by addressing its debt issues. The new gold-backed currency, ZiG, was introduced to stabilize the economy and protect against inflation, with redesigned banknotes set to circulate soon.
