O româncă a fost închisă pe nedrept în Italia. Acum va primi peste 260.000 de euro despăgubiri
A 57-year-old Romanian woman will receive €261,760 from the Italian state after being wrongfully imprisoned for nearly three years. The Bari Court of Appeal ruled that her detention violated the legal principle of 'ne bis in idem', as she had already been convicted in Romania for the same offenses. The compensation includes €234,876 for her time in prison and €26,883 for house arrest. Her case began in 2007 when she was sentenced in absentia for involvement in a trafficking network. She was arrested in Italy in 2016 without knowledge of the charges against her. After a lengthy legal process, the court recognized her wrongful detention and awarded her damages.
