O plantă rară în culorile Argentinei a primit numele lui Messi. Unde crește și de ce e în pericol
A newly discovered plant species in the Andes has been named after Lionel Messi. The Salvia messii features blue and white flowers reminiscent of Argentina's national colors. It grows in rocky, dry slopes at altitudes of 2,000 to 2,400 meters in Peru and is already considered endangered due to climate change and wildfires. The discovery was detailed in the October 2026 issue of Phytotaxa, led by Paúl Gonzáles from the National Museum of Natural History in Lima. Researchers believe that less studied areas around ancient forests may host many other unique species. Messi has previously been honored in science with a fungus named after him in 2024 and two animal species in 2023.
