O nouă țară ar putea apărea pe harta lumii: aproape 98 la sută dintre locuitori au votat pentru independență

Bougainville is moving towards independence after 97.7% of its residents voted for separation. Papua New Guinea's parliament is now considering the referendum results. Although the vote was not legally binding, it could lead to the establishment of a new nation. Bougainville, with around 370,000 inhabitants, has a clear transition plan aiming for extended autonomy by September 2027 and full independence by 2030. The independence movement is rooted in historical grievances related to the Panguna copper mine and a long civil war. If ratified, Bougainville could become one of the newest countries in the world.
