O nouă specie de pisică sălbatică, descoperită în Bolivia

A new wild cat species, Leopardus tilcayo, has been discovered in Bolivia's Yungas forests, marking the first identification in over a century. Genetic analysis confirmed its distinct status, revealing it is smaller than domestic cats and has a light brown coat with irregular rosettes. Researchers have limited knowledge about its behavior, but evidence suggests it may be nocturnal and preys on rodents. This discovery highlights the need for conservation efforts, as the Yungas ecosystem faces threats from deforestation and agriculture. The findings will be reviewed by the IUCN to assess the conservation status of this and other related species.
