Fuel prices in Romania have surpassed 10 lei per liter for gasoline, with the standard price at 10.05 lei/l in OMV stations. The cheapest gasoline is sold at 9.93 lei/l by Socar. Diesel prices range from 10.93 to 10.99 lei/l, with some stations offering lower prices. Romania ranks 13th in the EU for cheapest gasoline, with several countries ahead. The Ministry of Finance is limited in its ability to reduce diesel excise taxes, only able to extend a temporary reduction.
