A new highway connecting Bucharest to Alexandria is being developed, with a cost of approximately €28.5 million per kilometer. This project, part of the USL electoral program, aims to improve traffic flow and safety by providing an alternative to the congested DN6 road. The highway will span 74.22 km and include 10 interchanges, traversing Ilfov, Giurgiu, and Teleorman counties. The total estimated cost is around 11.1 billion lei, funded by European and state budget sources. Construction is expected to take 33 months, with the project divided into three sections for bidding.
