O nouă armă împotriva Alzheimer. Molecula care a restabilit memoria în testele pe animale

An experimental molecule, RSQ-020, has shown promise in restoring memory and learning abilities in animal models of Alzheimer's disease, according to a preclinical study by Greek researchers. This innovative pharmaceutical compound targets the Tau protein, which is linked to neurodegenerative diseases when misfolded. The development of RSQ-020 utilized a novel technology platform that employs modified bacteria to produce numerous candidate molecules and identify those with biological activity. This approach differs from traditional drug discovery methods, focusing on correcting dysfunctional proteins rather than fitting a specific target. While results are promising, they remain preclinical and not yet applicable to human patients.
