Union leader Adrian Mihălcioiu highlighted the increasing incidents in the region, with over 100 commercial ships attacked since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The crew managed to abandon the ship, but there were casualties. Mihălcioiu expressed concerns about the lack of communication from shipowners regarding the risks of war zones, leading to many sailors requesting repatriation. The Romanian Coast Guard initiated a rescue operation after a fire broke out on the vessel.
