O misiune UE, condusă de Italia, a interceptat un petrolier din „flota fantomă” a Rusiei în Marea Mediterană
A European Union naval mission led by Italy intercepted a tanker linked to Russia's 'phantom fleet' in the Mediterranean. This operation is part of increased efforts to enforce oil sanctions against Moscow. The tanker 'Toa Payoh' was stopped while traveling from Benin to Istanbul, having recently changed its flag to Cameroon. The inspection, supported by Greek and Polish forces, lasted two hours and concluded without incident. Although the tanker was not detained, collected documents may aid future actions by national authorities. This follows a similar inspection of another suspected tanker earlier this month. The EU has sanctioned numerous vessels aiding Russia in evading oil export restrictions since the Ukraine conflict began.
