O instanță a condamnat la moarte 27 de soldați, găsiți vinovați de „lașitate”

A military court in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo sentenced 27 soldiers to death for cowardice during battles against M23 rebels. The trial involved over 112 soldiers from the 21st Simba Battalion, who were accused of abandoning their posts in August. Additionally, 54 soldiers received five-year prison sentences, while 10 were sentenced to six months. At least 21 soldiers were acquitted due to insufficient evidence. This trial follows ongoing clashes between M23 rebels and government forces in Uvira, with both sides accusing each other of violating ceasefire agreements. M23 controls significant territories in the region, and Rwanda is accused of supporting the group, which it denies.
