This remarkable find is one of the most complete fossilized shells of its kind ever discovered, providing valuable insights into the evolution of leatherback turtles. Researchers indicate that the fossil reveals two distinct evolutionary lines of these reptiles over the past 40 million years, with one line now extinct.
