While up to 90% of a turbine's mass can be recycled, the blades are particularly difficult due to their composite materials. Vattenfall is exploring innovative reuse options, such as converting turbine nacelles into compact living spaces. The company aims for 100% circularity for composite materials by 2030, focusing on new recycling methods. As older wind farms decommission, the need for scalable and cost-effective recycling solutions will increase, highlighting the importance of regulatory frameworks to support circular value chains.
