O broască de nici doi centimetri i-a „dezorientat” pe cercetători. O nouă specie otrăvitoare, descoperită în Ecuador
Researchers in Ecuador have identified a new species of tiny frog, named Excidobates perplexus, measuring less than two centimeters. This species is threatened by mining activities and is sought after in the black market as a collector's item. Two populations were found near the Paute River and north of Cordillera del Condor, exhibiting different color patterns. The species belongs to the Excidobates genus, known for its toxic frogs, and its discovery highlights the biodiversity of Ecuador, which hosts 703 amphibian species. The findings were published in Zootaxa.
