The number of dissolved companies increased by 2.92% in the first eight months of 2026, reaching 37,227 compared to 36,171 in the same period of 2025. Bucharest recorded the highest number of dissolutions, with 7,976 firms, a rise of 12.61%. Other notable increases were seen in Cluj, Ilfov, and Timiș. Conversely, Mehedinți had the fewest dissolutions, with a significant decrease of 26.40%. The wholesale and retail trade sector had the most dissolutions, totaling 6,608, although this represented a decline of 20.05% from the previous year. In August 2026 alone, there were 3,198 dissolutions, predominantly in Bucharest and Ilfov.
