In the first seven months of 2026, the number of building permits for residential buildings decreased by 11.6% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 18,848 permits. Most regions experienced declines, with notable drops in Nord-Est and Vest, while Bucharest-Ilfov saw an increase. In July 2026, 2,909 residential permits were issued, reflecting a 1.7% decrease from June 2026. The total useful area for these permits also dropped significantly. Conversely, non-residential building permits increased by 3.6% in July 2026, with notable growth in useful area in several regions. Overall, both residential and non-residential permits showed declines compared to July 2025.
