Nuclearelectrica: Reactoarele de la Cernavodă rămân oprite în siguranță

Units 1 and 2 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant are safely shut down, with no nuclear security risks, according to Nuclearelectrica. The water level at Cernavodă approached operational limits, prompting the shutdown. Nuclearelectrica assures that multiple cooling systems are in place to maintain safety. Romanian authorities are enhancing cooling system redundancy, while the National Administration "Apele Române" is increasing water discharge to support cooling. The shutdown affects electricity production, with both units offline due to low Danube water levels. Maintenance activities are ongoing during this period, and Nuclearelectrica is consulting experts for long-term solutions. The last voluntary shutdown occurred in 2003, but this is the first time both reactors were shut down due to drought.
