Nuclearelectrica importă energie din Ucraina

Nuclearelectrica has started importing electricity from Ukraine via Energocom to address production deficits caused by the shutdown of Unit 1 at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. This decision follows the government's declaration of a state of alert in the energy sector due to severe drought and low water levels in the Danube. The imported energy aims to mitigate the impact on the Romanian energy market. The collaboration with Energocom, established through a memorandum earlier this year, highlights the importance of bilateral relations in ensuring energy security. Romania is facing significant challenges in its energy system, with the Danube's flow dropping to critical levels, prompting calls for voluntary consumption reductions and discussions on increasing production from gas and coal plants.
