The company claims it was a last-minute solution and did not participate in prior discussions. The memorandum aimed to enhance gas supply security in the region, replacing Russian gas with LNG from the U.S. However, no binding contract was established before the memorandum expired in February 2026. Nova Power & Gas asserts that American LNG would have been cheaper than domestic gas. Despite ongoing discussions with other traders, the company has not finalized any agreements for LNG imports.
