The Hungarian Parliament has approved the establishment of the National Asset Recovery Office (NVVH) aimed at recovering allegedly embezzled funds from the previous government. The law, proposed by the ruling Tisza party, received significant support, passing with 143 votes in favor. The NVVH will focus on detecting abuses of public assets and investigating corruption cases. Critics, including the Fidesz party, have labeled the office a modern version of the secret police. The new government has also made changes to the Constitutional Court, appointing a new judge amid concerns over the lack of consultation in the process.
