Nouă vehicule amfibii AAV-7 au intrat în dotarea Forțelor Navale Române. Primele din cele 65 comandate din SUA

Nine AAV-7 amphibious assault vehicles have officially joined the Romanian Naval Forces, marking the first delivery of 65 ordered from the USA. The contract initiated in 2023 includes 21 vehicles in the first phase and 44 in the second, with deliveries scheduled from 2026 to 2031. AAV-7s can operate on land and water, transporting a crew of three and up to 21 fully equipped soldiers or five tons of cargo. They are armed with a heavy M2 machine gun and a MK-19 grenade launcher. The 307 Marine Infantry Regiment has previously trained with AAV-7s alongside the U.S. Marine Corps. This acquisition is part of broader military enhancement efforts, including the recent arrival of K9 self-propelled howitzers and K10 vehicles for ammunition transport, with significant local production planned.
