OMV Petrom is progressing with the construction of a sustainable fuel production unit at the Petrobrazi refinery, with an investment of 560 million euros, expected to be operational by 2028. The foundations are complete, and major equipment has been installed. The unit will produce 250,000 tons annually of sustainable aviation fuel, renewable diesel, bio-naphtha, and bio-LPG, depending on market demand. The production will utilize vegetable fats and used cooking oils along with green hydrogen, aiming for a CO2 emission reduction of at least 65%. Construction began in 2025, with further equipment installation and testing planned. Additionally, OMV Petrom is developing green hydrogen production capabilities at Petrobrazi, investing 190 million euros for two electrolyzers with a total capacity of 55 MW.
