The new highway from Bucharest to Giurgiu has seven proposed routes, aiming to connect Romania's capital with Bulgaria. This strategic road will link to the Giurgiu-Ruse Bridge and the Ruse-Veliko Târnovo highway under construction. The project ensures modern connections with existing highways, enhancing transport safety and reducing pollution. The National Company for Road Investments will select the best two routes for further analysis based on a multi-criteria assessment. The project is led by a consortium and is valued at 33 million lei, with an 18-month duration. Meanwhile, the Ruse-Veliko Târnovo highway is progressing and expected to be completed by 2028.
