The Boița 1 tunnel on the A1 Sibiu–Pitești highway has been fully pierced, with construction progressing with over 700 workers. The second gallery was completed on October 11, 2026, following the first gallery's completion in July. The overall progress of the Boița 1 tunnel stands at 45.11%, with interior lining work upcoming. Other tunnels in the Boița–Cornetu section are at different stages, with the Balota tunnel at 13.69% and the Robești tunnel at 39.48%. Currently, 708 workers and 162 machines are on site, but only 45% of the planned work can proceed due to missing environmental agreements and construction permits. The project is valued at 4.25 billion lei and relies on obtaining necessary approvals for further advancement.
