Norwegian authorities detained two cargo ships, including one linked to the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project, as they were heading to Hong Kong. The Coast Guard intercepted the vessels in international waters, where they were waiting for better weather conditions. The Ya Qing Hai Yang, under sanctions, was seized on October 14 and had previously transported equipment from China to Russia. The second ship, Jian Yang Cheng He, is not under sanctions and has no known ties to Russian energy projects. Both vessels were navigating from Hong Kong along the Northern Sea Route and had been near the Norwegian-Russian border since early October. Inspections were conducted, but no complaints have been reported.
