The nominations for the 2026 Ballon d'Or will be announced on September 8, with the ceremony taking place in London on October 26. This 70th edition celebrates the first award given in 1956 to Stanley Matthews. Thirty players will be nominated for both the men's and women's awards, alongside various other categories. Winners are determined by an international jury of journalists based on individual and collective performances, trophies won, and fair play. The 2025 winners included Ousmane Dembélé and Aitana Bonmatí.
