Noi taxe europene în schimbul unor contribuții mai mici la bugetul UE. Costa: „Nu putem cere mai mult statelor”

The European Union needs to find new revenue sources to reduce member states' contributions, according to European Council President António Costa. Speaking in Berlin, he emphasized the importance of creating own resources to protect national budgets. The EU's proposed budget for 2028-2034 is nearly €2 trillion, but Germany and other member states are pushing for significant cuts. Costa's proposal includes five new revenue sources, which could generate an additional €58.2 billion annually. Romania's interests are at stake, as it benefits from EU funding while also contributing to the budget. The negotiations are complex and require unanimous approval from all member states.
